Taylor's University Partners with Top Employers to produce World Class Graduates

The Taylor's World Class Scholarship (TWCS) is back with new partners from a wider range of industries. The 2013 edition of the scholarship, launched today by Taylor’s University Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Professor Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said, is now open to all school-leavers for an opportunity to pursue their academic goals.

“Over the years, Taylor’s University has been bridging the gap between graduates and the industry through this prestigious scholarship. The TWCS continues to play an important role in developing the nation’s talent, and I am pleased to see that more industry partners share this belief,” said Professor Hassan at the launch ceremony.

The TWCS 2013 official launch was witnessed by representatives from returning industry partners namely, BDO, BMW, Dell, HSBC, Leo Burnett, Nestlé, Shangri-La and Veritas Design Group. This year, TWCS welcomes three new partners: Top Glove, CIMB Group and Scomi.

Held for the eighth consecutive year, TWCS is a scholarship programme that awards outstanding students with exemplary academic and extracurricular achievements. Distinguishing itself from other scholarships and bursaries, TWCS offers a full scholarship for a degree of choice at Taylor’s University as well as an internship opportunity in a leading multinational company (MNC).

Taylor’s University’s collaboration with world-renowned corporations enable students to apply classroom theories in real-life working situations, setting the benchmark for world-class graduates who excel both academically, and in industry as well. This holistic education experience leads to well-rounded, competitive, resilient and globalised graduates.

Shangri La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Vice President and General Manager, Lothar Nessmann, said that Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts provides endless learning opportunities to its staff and are proud to extend these opportunities to their Taylor’s World Class Scholarship recipient.

“As one of its aims is to mould well-rounded, competitive, resilient and globalised graduates, the Taylor’s World Class Scholarship is an excellent platform to develop not only academic excellence but also produce industry-ready graduates. With this Scholarship Award, recipients are able to undergo practical experience with some of the world’s leading corporations in their respective industries, which allows them to learn from the best of both worlds,” he added.

The prestigious scholarship will be receiving submissions until 12 April 2013.

Since its inception in 2006, TWCS has awarded a total of RM7.5 million worth of scholarships to over 100 deserving students. Other scholarship awards under the Taylor’s Education Group include the Tan Sri Loy Scholarship, Tertiary Merit Scholarship, National Scholarship and the High Achievers Scholarship.
