Steps to apply for admission into the Taylor's Postgraduate Research Programmes:


 
Step 1: Check your qualifications for admission
  •  You may check the entry requirements of the programme that you wish to apply here:
Master in Computer Science
Entry Requirement
  • ​Bachelor's Degree (Level 6 MQF) of computing or in the area of Science and Technology or related to computing, with a minimum CGPA of 3.00
    OR
  • Bachelor's Degree (Level 6 MQF) of computing or in the area of Science and Technology or related to computing, with CGPA below 3.00 but above 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment process
    OR
  • Bachelor's Degree (Level 6 MQF) of computing or in the area of Science and Technology or related to computing, with CGPA less than 2.50, with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a relevant field may be accepted.
  • Note: For candidates without a Computing Degree, prerequisite modules in computing will be offered to adequately prepare them.
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 500 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score)
Master of Science
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science with CGPA more than 2.75 with research project component in related field or 2 years working experience in Science related industry
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75, candidates will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • All Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.50, recognized by the Malaysian Government or National Government, AND a minimum of 5 years related working experience
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 500 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score)
Master of Science in Engineering
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA more than 2.75
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • All Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or Technology with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.50, recognized by the Malaysian Government or National Government, AND with a minimum of 5 years related working experience
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved.
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 500 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score)
Master of Science (Tourism)
Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with CGPA more than 2.75
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 will be subjected to rigorous internal assessment
    OR
  • All Bachelor’s degree with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.50 recognized by the Malaysian or National Government, AND with a minimum of 5 years related working experience
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved.
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 500 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score)
Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy)
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the Senate
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 can be accepted subjected to a minimum of 2 years working experience in relevant field
    OR
  • Candidate must be a Registered Pharmacist to pursue research in clinical subjects
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score)
Master of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy / relevant science discipline with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the Senate
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy / relevant science discipline with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 can be accepted subjected to a minimum of 2 years working experience in relevant field
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programmes
Doctor of Philosophy (Business) 
 
Entry Requirement
  • Masters in the related discipline
    OR
  • Passed Bachelor's degree with minimum CGPA of 3.67 and registered as a Masters candidate and passed related qualifying assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved.
  • For international students: IELTS 6.0 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score).

Doctor of Philosophy (Computer Science) 
 
Entry Requirement
  • A Master's Degree (Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF Level 7) in computing or related to computing or any other equivalent qualification from any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate
    AND
  • Candidates must have completed at least 1 of their earlier Degrees (Master's or Bachelor's) in computing or related to computing.
  • For international students: IELTS 6.0 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score).

Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering)

Entry Requirement
  • Masters in the related discipline
    OR
  • Passed Bachelor’s Degree with minimum CGPA 3.67 and registered as a Masters candidate and passed related qualifying assessment
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved.
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 500 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score).

Doctor of Philosophy (Hospitality & Tourism)

Entry Requirement
  • Masters in the related discipline
    OR
  • Passed Bachelor’s Degree with minimum CGPA 3.67 and registered as a Masters candidate and passed related qualifying assessment 
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate
    AND
  • Any of the above condition would require student’s research proposal to be approved.
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 500 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score).

Doctor of Philosophy (Science)

Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
 
Entry Requirement
  • Masters degree in Pharmacy or relevant science discipline
    OR
  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.67 and registered as a Masters candidate and achieve outstanding performance in research and conversion assessment with Senate approval
    OR
  • Any other equivalent qualifications which is recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted.
  • For international students: IELTS 5.0 (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score).

Step 2: Check for Funding Options
  • You may check the eligibility to apply for scholarships by referring to the details on the 'Postgraduate Funding' page.
  • You may also consider making an enquiry with Postgraduate - Enrolment & Advisory Services via email (postgraduate@taylors.edu.my) with the documents below for advice on eligibility for admission & scholarship:
    • Curriculum vitae / resume
    • Academic certificates [Bachelor's Degree and / or Master's Degree Certificate]
    • Academic transcripts [Bachelor's Degree and / or Master's Degree Transcript]
    • Preferably with an area of interest and potential supervisor if you are already in communication.
Step 3: Submit your Documents for Registration
 
  • Once your research proposal is accepted and supervisor is confirmed, you may proceed to submit your Application.
  • Application can be submitted at any time of the year. In order for an application to be assessed, it is important that you submit all the required documents. Which includes:
    For Malaysian Applicants
    • Submit supporting documents
      1. Certified true copies of Bachelor Degree and /  or Master Degree certificates and transcripts (attached English translation if transcripts are in a foreign language)
      2. One (1) certified true copy of identity card (NRIC)
      3. Two (2) passport size photographs
      4. Research Proposal
      5. Curriculum vitae / resume
      6. Two (2) Academic Referee’s Report
      7. One (1) Addendum
      8. Certified true copy of letter of scholarship / sponsorship (if applicable)
      9. Candidate who completed their degree in a language other than English, is required to submit evidence of English competency
    For International Applicants
    • Submit supporting documents
      1. Three (3) copies of certified true copies of Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master Degree certificates and transcripts (attached English translation if transcripts are in a foreign language)
      2. Three (3) copies of passport including BLANK pages, kindly ensure your passport has a minimum of fifteen (15) months validity
      3. Seven (7) passport-sized photographs with white background (3.5 cm (W) x 4.5 cm (H))
      4. Research Proposal
      5. Curriculum vitae / resume
      6. Two (2) Academic Referee’s Report
      7. One (1) Addendum
      8. Certified true copy of letter of scholarship / sponsorship (if applicable)
      9. Candidates who completed their degree in a language other than English is required to submit evidence of English competency
    Upon acceptance into the programme, International student is required to submit the following documents for student visa application;
    • Pre-arrival Health Examination Report (Click here to download)
    • Payment of RM2,625/USD750 (EMGS Visa Application + Hospitalization and Surgical Insurance Fee + Part of International Student Enrolment Fee) will be required for visa processing (Non-refundable)
     
    Step 4: Visa Application (if applicable)
     
  • Malaysian Immigration Department requires 6 - 8 working weeks to process student visa application. Taylor's International Office will assist international applicants in submitting the necessary application for student visa, upon approval of their application for admission into the postgraduate programme and issuance of Letter of Offer.
